Survey links sent by email are valid for 30 days from the moment the email goes out. After that window closes, guests who click the link see a clear message letting them know the Survey is no longer available. This keeps your feedback data timely and sets honest expectations for guests.
- Keep your feedback data fresh by collecting responses within a defined window.
- Give guests a clear, considerate experience when they open an expired link.
- Extend the collection window automatically each time a reminder goes out.
How Link Expiration Works
The 30-day clock starts the moment the email is sent, not when the guest opens it. A guest who receives the email but waits two weeks to open it still has the remaining time from the original send date.
If you have reminders configured for your Survey, each reminder resets the expiration timer. Guests who receive a follow-up get a fresh 30-day window starting from the reminder's send date.
What Guests See When a Link Expires
When a guest clicks an expired link, they're taken to a dedicated error page. It displays this message:
"This survey has expired and can no longer be completed."
Guests aren't shown a blank page or a generic error. The message is intentional and clear, so there's no confusion about what happened.
